Labin D.K. has counseled some leading giant companies, Russian government institutions, international agencies, supporting the Government of the Russian Federation in advancement of economical and legal reforms. In particular, within the framework of international project The IRIS-Russia Project and the Commercial Law Reform Initiative in 1993-1997 he rendered legal assistance for the working group of leading Russian Lawyers drafting the Parts I and II of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. As a Head Legal Adviser of International Consulting Company Chemonics International Company in 1998 - 2000 he worked on development of the Russian legislation on improvement of judicial system of the Russian Federation.

Dmitry K.Labin is a professional in the field of settlement of international investment disputes between investor on one side and the Host state - on the other. As an expert he provided opinions on various similar cases.

Besides the law practice, Labin D.K. conducts scientific research in the fields of international law instruments for foreign direct investments. A series of articles and two monographies were published in regard to the problem under study, Dmitry is a co-author of two tutorials in international law. In 2003 he was awarded by medal of the Academy of Sciences of Russia for his book "International legal regulation for foreign investments". In 2004 being a member of international experts' group under the sponsorship of the Academy of International Law in Hague, the Netherlands, he conducted research in new aspects of international investment law.

Since 2000 and up to date Labin D.K. on the position of Professor, teaches in the international law Faculty at the Moscow State Institute for International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (MGIMO). He does lecturing on international economic law for senior students and a special course in "International legal regulation for foreign investments" for Master's program auditors.

Starting from 2000 he is an active member of the Russian Association of International law. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
